Senior QA Officer - Horticulture - Bundaberg

 

This is an opportunity for an experienced QA professional to work with a flourishing business in the Bundaberg region across their multi-site farming system. A system that provides large scale production, innovative farming practices and high quality produce to local and international markets.

Due to the expansion and growth they have achieved, they are looking for an experienced person to join their pack shed team and assist in continuing to improve and optimise the environment.

The role itself?

This is an opportunity to join a high performing team. Your day to day activities in this role will include: 

  • Assist with the development, implementation, review, and maintenance of the SQF system, including the system elements, good manufacturing practices (GMPs) and food safety plans to ensure the company maintains HACCP, HARPS and GFSI accreditations

  • Back up/substitute SQF Practitioner for QA Processing (if required)

  • Conduct and facilitate internal pre-requisite programs, audits, GMP audits

  • Drive internal and external compliance against all QA standards

  • Oversee and participate in external audits, report on non-compliances and work with Managers and Supervisors to implement corrective actions

  • Provide leadership, coaching and individual development to drive food safety and quality culture throughout the business, whilst ensuring a quality management system is maintained to deliver safe, quality products that meet legislative and customer requirements

  • Management of the customer feedback and complaints system including performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions and continuous improvement.

  • Verification of quality and food safety procedures and processes.

  • Report to Senior Management on all quality and food safety issues or concerns.

  • Participate in mock recall and traceability exercises including reviewing the effectiveness and identifying gaps for improvement.

  • Identify key performance indicators and ensure they are measured, achieved and continuously improved.

  • Participate in cross functional meetings (eg HR, quality, safety, maintenance etc) to define action plans that resolve issues and drive continuous improvement.

 

What kind of person will fit the role?

The perfect person for this role will have a strong understanding of farming production systems and experience in horticultural pack sheds. As you will be joining an established pack shed team, it is extremely important that you have an ability to communicate, collaborate and lead.
